About Jesse

Jesse Grylls is a contemporary painter based in London.

His work is expressionistic, built on the idea of using simple forms as vehicles for expression: letters, words and primitive marks, distorted until they carry a mood or an idea. It can be brutalist by way of decisive, active mark making and colourful explosion, yet the paintings hold the viewer through those instantly recognisable forms and through heavy layering.

He has had four solo shows, each presenting a collection further along the development of a personal style and voice as an abstract expressionist painter.
